Karlamuiza Country Hotel

Very good location, close to bunch of walking trails, nature sightseeing spots and attractions near Cesis and Sigulda. Great view of blooming apple trees both in yard, in front of hotel and old apple tree gardens a mile away. Polite and welcoming service with an option to order a three course dinner from local and seasonal products. Our room was upgraded to a better one, which included a balcony and was well designed. Varied and tasty breakfast, which you can choose from three options as well as self-service table for coffee and drinks. Room was equipped with a small kitchenette.

Karlamuiza Hotel has only 10 rooms in a historic building which was once part of a large manor. What remains is a beautiful apple orchard where you can relax in hammocks or on one of the many garden benches spread over the garden and terrace. Our room “Karl” came with a comfy large bed, a coffee maker, tea cattle, and fridge. Everything was clean and well kept. The style was rustic, which fits to the historic building and rural location. We enjoyed dinner at the terrace - there is no menu, everything is prepared by the owner with local produce. I had asked for a pescatarian meal which was no issue at all. Our three course dinner menu cost 35 Euros per person (including water). We started with a pumpkin soup followed by trout with vegetables and a very creative apple dessert. Breakfast came with three different menus which had to be chosen the night before, and was again freshly prepared. My personal highlight was the home-made apple juice! Service was very friendly. The hotel is small and family-run, which translates into a very cozy atmosphere. Parking is available and free of charge. Cesis with its castle ruin is about 15 minutes by car, Sigulda and Turaida with another two castle (ruins) is about 30 minutes by car. Riga is about 1 hour and 20 minutes away.

Wonderful place in countryside. Apple trees, a stork right in front of our window. Nice historic location in a small village. Good location for hiking in Gauja national park. A cozy room with more than enough space. Great breakfast. Very friendly people. A genuine experience of authentic, but modern-style Latvia.

Dinner was delicious, the room with a terrace was very big, neat and cozy. Management of the Karlamuiza and stuff were very friendly and helped us with every questions. We certainly would like to express our gratitude to Biba, the head of the Karlamuiza, for her kindness and professionalism. She has organize very comfortable place for stay there and created an unforgettable celebration of the Midsummer Day. We all thank her and all her supporters and assistants who made our stay so wonderful.

We loved everything about it, where it was situated, the wild life and forest trail to the back of the hotel, the owners were so lovely and could not do enough for us. It was so quiet, so cozy and extremely well maintained.
